Northern Pacific railroad bridge site at Dryad, WA, crossing the Chehalis River. The bridge had timber trestle approaches on both sides and had been converted for trail use by attaching concrete panels to the crossties. A chainlink fence lined both sides, but only the posts remain.

Remaining flood-borne debris that piled up against the Northern Pacific bridge at Dryad. On the night of the flood, nearby residents heard what they thought were boulders being dropped into the river to bolster the banks. They later discovered this was the sound of stumps and tree trunks crashing into the bridge, propelled by the surging waters.

This is the site of the Northern Pacific's crossing of the Chehalis River near Millburn, WA. The line has been abandoned for some time and hopes that the right-of-way would become part of the Rails-to-Trails system stretching from Chehalis to Raymond may now be dashed.
