Railroad Maps

Texas Railroad Maps cover

From the Railspot list:
I received Sonrisa's Texas Railroad Maps the other day. It is excellent.

The book is organized by railroad/division/subdivision, with other active lines and some abandoned lines also shown, as well as some control points and detectors. Major highways near railroads are also indicated. For detail on Farm Roads, Ranch Roads, and county roads, the "Roads of Texas" is my preference.

A finder map is located in the center of the book.

The only errors I could find in a quick scan were the direction of running on the UP between Valley Junction/Hearne and Bryan, and between Navasota and Houston. But since these change from time to time, they may have been accurate when the book was compiled.

The books are ETT size, so they go well with the railfan timetables from Altamont Press. The burnt orange cover would not be my first choice, but it is attractive <g>.

Since [we] will be making a circle trip to Seattle on Amtrak points, we'll be buying all the Sonrisa western maps.
