The original Train Tracker was a website that presented daily reports of systemwide BNSF train movements during 1999-2001. This was made possible by the availabilty of public car tracing on BNSF's website via the internet. Dozens of fans across the country (and even around the world) traced railcars and forwarded the data to the Train Tracker. Railfanning was possible even if you were thousands of miles away from the tracks. But, as with many other things, September 11th, 2001, changed all that and BNSF decided to restrict public access to their car tracing computer. As a result, the Train Tracker ceased operation.
Much of that data was preserved, however, and little by little is being presented here. It is all stored on an old computer (and quite a few floppy disks) and is slowly being transferred to a newer machine via sneaker net since the only output available is a 3.5" floppy! So please be patient as these pages are rebuilt.
